Haley Barrett: Project Manager
Haley is a senior undergraduate mechanical engineering student at Florida State University. She enjoys systems engineering and is valuable in this position because of her blend of interpersonal and technical skills. Haley manages the logistics of the project including the coordination of team meetings and email communication between the team, sponsor, and advisor. She is also responsible for monitoring purchase orders, creating the project webpage, and assisting with the construction of the mechanical structure of the drone.
Kody Koch: Lead Mechanical Engineer
Kody is a senior undergraduate mechanical engineering student at Florida State University. He is interested in aerospace engineering and computational approaches to problem solving. He coordinates cross-disciplinary aspects of the project and often handles a variety of tasks in order to facilitate these aspects, such as designing the ground station and integrating modules onto the drone.
Juan Patino: Test Engineer
Juan is a senior undergraduate student studying electrical engineering at Florida State University. He has interests in electronics and power management systems. Juan assists in the design and functionality of the ground station. He is also responsible for testing the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to ensure it functions properly and meets the sponsor’s needs.
Joshua Reid: Design/Aerodynamic Engineer
Josh is a senior undergraduate mechanical engineering student at Florida State University. He has a passion in aviation/aerospace and is currently working on getting his Private Pilot’s license. Due to this passion, he is able to provide input about aerodynamics and perform any relevant calculations needed for the vehicle. While his main role is to handle all of the related aerodynamics tasks, he also assists with the mechanical design and power delivery of the RC components. He also has previous experience dealing with RC aircrafts, so he helps with the piloting of the vehicle during the testing sessions.
Matthew Roberts: Lead Electrical Engineer
Matthew is a senior undergraduate student studying electrical engineering at Florida State University. He is an intern under the City of Tallahassee Utility Power Division, and an undergraduate researcher studying Power Electronics at CAPS, researching under Dr. Li. He is responsible for the electrical and software components of the design, mainly the communications and image processing. He maintains a line of communication with the lead ME, and manages the construction of the project circuitry. He is also in charge of supervising testing done by the Test Engineer, as well as reviewing all code created during the project.
Francisco Silva: Programmer
Francisco is a senior undergraduate electrical engineering student at Florida State University. He is interested in microprocessors and electronics. Francisco mainly handles the programming aspects of the project while also working on the other electrical components of the drone, such as communications and power management.
